It’s the last day of ALA Annual 2015! Say hello/goodbye to us in the Macmillan (adult) booth #1009 and finish strong with today’s great events:

Auditorium Speaker Series featuring Joshua Davis with Rick Jacobs and David Thomson – From Cover to Screen – Books to Movies

Joshua Davis (SPARE PARTS) will be joined by producer Rick Jacobs and esteemed film critic David Thomson to talk about the writing of the book, the creation of the movie and how movies are judged and reviewed. Attendees will also view a trailer for the film version, starring George Lopez, Jamie Lee Curtis and Marisa Tomei. SPARE PARTS is about four undocumented Mexican teenagers overcoming all odds to win a high-tech underwater robot competition against teams from elite universities, and has been called a “triumphant read” by the Toronto Star and “a great American story” by the Washington Post.

Come hear six collection development specialists rave about their favorite titles gathered from the exhibit floor. This lively panel, co-organized by Booklist and the AAP, will feature librarians Stephanie Chase (Hillsboro Public Library); Naphtali Faris (Kansas City Public Library); Alene Moroni (King County Library System); Kaite Mediatore Stover (Kansas City Public Library); Stephen Sposato (Chicago Public Library); and David Wright (Seattle Public Library). Moderated by Rebecca Vnuk, Booklist‘s editor for Reference and Collection Management.
